CCTV-Surveillance (SIA)



To get one of the qualifications linked to Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licensing you will need to attend a training course and pass the exam. (Minimum 22 hrs Class is required by SIA for this course- without completion of 22 hrs your certificate may be invalidated). The course will be delivered in 3 days. How long is the training course? 

It has been designed to be completed in 5 days (although longer tuition or self-study options may be available).

The exam consists of multiple choice questions and practical skills observations

Unit 1: Principles of working in the private security industry:
Chapter 1: Know the main characteristics and purposes of the private security industry
Chapter 2: Understand legislation as it applies to a security operative
Chapter 3: Understand arrest procedures relevant to security operatives
Chapter 4: Understand the importance of safe working practices
Chapter 5: Understand fire procedures in the workplace
Other Chapters : Understand emergencies and the importance of emergency procedures and communications, role and responsibilities, Understanding the thereat, dealing with vulnerable people and post incident management

Unit 2: Principles and Practices of working as a CCTV operator in the private security industry:
Chapter 1: Understand the purpose of surveillance (CCTV) systems and the roles and responsibilities of the control room team and other stakeholders
Chapter 2: Understand the different types of legislation and how they impact on Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) operations
Chapter 3: Understand relevant legislation and how it impacts on CCTV operations
Chapter 4: Understand how public space surveillance (CCTV) systems equipment operates Understand the importance of communication within CCTV operations
Chapter 5: Understand surveillance techniques
Chapter 6: Understand different types of incidents and how to respond to them
