These qualifications have been revised and replaces the old A1 Assessors Award to confirm the requirements of the new QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework). These qualifications are knowledge and competence-based.

This means that it is linked to a person having the knowledge and the ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work in their workplace.

What are the qualifications about?

The Award in Assessing Candidates (Assessor) is designed for people who want to assess NVQ/SVQ/QCF candidates. You will gain the skills needed for collecting and judging evidence of competence. You can choose to specialise in following:

Course Length

2 Days in the class (If you book class based course) followed by on-going support by your tutor however, qualification is awarded when you have met the assessment criteria.

For Distance Learning:

The distance learning course is done at your own pace with a Tutor’s Support & Guidance. This programme involves self-directed study, e-learning, workshops and one-to-one tutorial. This course is delivered on Blended learning style (You will start this course with distance learning). All necessary materials will be sent to you by Special royal mail delivery once you book the course. The entry requirement for this course is the basic functional skills (Numeracy, Literacy, ICT). However, we recommend the distance learning course for Individual’s with competence or experience. Once you book this course, you will be given up to 12 weeks to complete the assignments. During this time you need to assess to candidates, when it is a competence level. However If you finish earlier, you will be awarded early (You do not need to wait for up to 12 weeks).

Course assessment:

No formal examination is required for this course, but at the end of the course you need to submit portfolio of evidence.

Class Based Course:

Please note: After 3 days in the class, you will be given 3 weeks deadline to submit your portfolio. However if you finish earlier, your certificate will be awarded early as long as you meet the required standard.

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 QCF credits)- £299.99
Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment is a knowledge-only award for those who are starting their journey as an assessor, or those who need to know about assessment practice but are not currently practising.

 

This Understanding level consist of: Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment D/601/5313

 

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (9 QCF Credits)- £649.99
Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is for practitioners who assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation/examining work products/oral questioning and discussion/use of witnesses/learner statements/Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

This Competence level consists ofthe following 2 Units:

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment D/601/5313

Unit 2: Assess occupational competence in the work environment H/601/5314

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Related Achievement (9 QCF Credits)- £649.99
Assessing Vocational Related Achievement qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment). It includes the following assessment methods: Assessments of the learner in simulated environments, Skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and recognizing prior learning.

This Vocational level consists of the following 2 Unit:

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment D/601/5313

Unit 3: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding F/601/5319

Please note: Unit 1 will give you comprehensive understanding of assessment however if you wish to achieve full Assessor qualification (Assessor status) you need to do unit 1 and Unit 2 or Unit 3.

You don’t have to do all 3 units to achieve the full qualification, selecting the unit will be depend on the nature of the job you do (Current profession) for example: If you work as a practitioner like assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment then you need to do competence level Unit 1 and Unit 2.

On the other hand, if you work within the environment like workshop, classroom or other training environment then you need to do Vocational level unit 1 and unit 3.

During your booking either online or class based, the system will display both option (Competence and Vocational level) for you to choose theappropriate level when you select the datebelow.

(As with all new qualifications they are broken down into units and as such you can complete units now and add to them in the future to gain higher/different recognition).
